1 week stay-cation! Part 3 of 3

Lucky you...Another blog post this week!

I hope you had a happy 4th of July weekend! =)

We had a great time for our first 4th of July in the big apple! We started off with a picnic with the Harts in Central Park. We sure had a lot of fun, and a lot of delicious food! I tried to be as cool as my Mom and make her trifle. It was pretty good, but definitely can't compete with Mom's! =)

The picnic was a lot of fun. Zoe had a lot of fun with Rocket, and Rocket sure got worn out! We found a nice shady spot and enjoyed the gorgeous afternoon! It was a blast! It's so great to have family so close! =)

Then we dropped the sleepy guy off at home, and headed back in to the city to meet Lindsay and Laura for the NYC fireworks! That was quite the experience! Definitely a lot different than the midwest! LOTS of people, sitting on concrete as you wait for the fireworks, then once they begin, everyone stands up, they don't turn off the street lights! Not to mention the craziness afterwards where you feel like you're evacuating in a disaster movie, and can't even get down the stairs to the subway!

The fireworks were really cool though! 5 simultaneous sets off of separate barges. We had GREAT seats where we could see all 5! It was great! Here's a video of the finale...

Today we enjoyed the beautiful day by sleeping in, going to the promenade and the dog run, eating delicious burgers from Five Guys on the promenade, and just hanging out. It was a great day! =)

Tomorrow Matt and I are back to work and school. No more jury duty/early releases, and no more break. Oh well. I had a great stay-cation. Here we go again! Have a GREAT week everyone!

Comments, please! We really like them! =)

Looks like you had a lot of fun! :-) We had fun at Nick and Erin's, but of course, we missed you two! I missed almost the whole show the guys put on for us (along with Erin and Lindsay) because while I was watching a piece of ash fell in my eye and it hurt SO bad! I spent the whole time with my head under running water. It feels better now, but still a little irritated.

As for NYC fireworks vs. Midwest-I vote Midwest! I'm not so sure about sitting on concrete to watch fireworks and then standing to see them. I like being able to lay down on the grass! I'm sure the trifle was yummy-was it weight watchers? If it was, how did you make it?

Miss you friends!

We miss you guys! I love to read your posts! Hope you bought some snow caps at the candy store. That is our favorite! Don't know if we told you guys but we had a big bag of candy on the way home from your wedding and the snow caps melted all over all the other candy because we had the bag next to the heater! Yuck! Chocolate covered gummy worms aren't so great:(

Love, Susan
