Hi everyone! =) Are you ready for a LONG post!?
It must be known by now that I've been horrible at keeping up at this thing! A lot has happened since my last post...and it's Christmastime in NYC!!! =) It's the season of lots of fun decorations, visitors, and great food! =)
Let's back up a bit...On November 23rd I finished the didactic portion of my doctoral education. HUGE step! We had a little moving on ceremony, and my class did plenty of celebrating! Matt came to the ceremony...I have a feeling he's more excited than me!!! I currently am off for 2 weeks (from school, not work!) until my next clinical affil starting on 12/13. BUT I have a comprehensive exam on 12/10 that will consume most of my time studying until then...
Matt is doing very well. Working hard, liking his job, and busy hanging out with friends. Work for me is going GREAT! I'm learning a lot and enjoying every minute. I have been in the Christmas spirit for a LONG time. I'm glad people are finally catching up to me! haha! I've not only been working at Radio City...I've had the opportunity to do other events as well. I covered the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade rehearsal. Here's some shots from that...
Happy birthday, Jill! =)
And Olivia! =)
Happy Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving was a BLAST. Matt's parents came in for the weekend and we had a lot of fun! We saw the balloons for the parade get blown up, we saw the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, saw the sights, lots of decorations, went to Macy's, and had some delicious food!
Thanksgiving was very NYC-esque... Our neighbors welcomed their new baby Olivia into the world on Tuesday 11/23! With that, a few members of Mandi's family came in to town. Matt's parents brought the turkey from Ohio, and us, Mandi's family, and our other neighbor Katina all made our share of food. Mandi's family was even super awesome enough to make me my OWN portions of food that were me-friendly...which I was SUPER greatful for! (For those of you who don't know, due to some health issues, I am now eating gluten and dairy free.) I was ambitious enough to make myself a GF/DF pumpkin pie. It was DELICIOUS!!!!!!! =) The reason our Thanksgiving was so unique was not only the mix of people, but also the setup. The dogs were kept in the bedroom by a gate, and all of the food was set up in our apartment, with the front door propped open. Across the hall at our neighbor's apt, the door was also propped open, and all of the seating was over there. It was fun. Then, I had to go to work... Due to Thanksgiving being the lowest traffic day in NYC, Matt and his parents picked me up after work, we parked in the city, roamed Times Square, and toured the city by car. It was awesome. All in all it was a great day. =)
This sure is the season for visitors! My Mom is coming this weekend, my cousin Candace is coming 2 weekends later, and my friend Maggie is coming the day after Candace leaves! It's sure going to be a great season. Glad to see family and friends especially with us not coming home for Christmas. A cool job has it's price I guess... =(
Last night we went to one of my favorite things in the winter. It's called Winter's Eve and it's a little festival celebrating the arrival of winter. It's a simple thing, but it's fun. Good food from places around the city for pretty cheap, street and storefront entertainment, and of course, lots of Christmas lights! We enjoyed ourselves, but missed the Harts, who introduced us to this festival 2 years ago. We miss having them so close.
Since we couldn't come home for Christmas this year, Matt agreed to get his first real tree! (We've had an artificial 3 ft tree the last 2 years!) I was sooo excited! We went this past weekend to pick it out and I've been online shopping to prepare for the tree's arrival. =) Here's how the place turned out!
